TAXI for Call/Network Event Warehouse TAXI: Total AXcess Information

One fare…One database for Revenue Assurance, CABS and a customized view into all of your network events.

The only thing worse than losing money, is losing money without knowing it. Given today’s margin management challenges, Carriers need to recognize that information about all network events is a key to improved profits and operational excellence.

An understanding of all network events allows a carrier to analyze the cost versus revenue received for products, services and customers. The challenge is that today’s usage solutions are fragmented models that fail to account for all of the complexities and interdependencies necessary to understand usage and carrier access.

At a minimum, Carriers should expect Revenue Assurance and CABS functionality for what they are currently spending on one or the other.

Some of the Current Carrier Challenges with Usage, CABS, and RA

Phantom Traffic: Industry data indicates that 5% of CLEC and up to 30 % of rural carrier traffic received from the RBOC can be categorized as “Phantom” Traffic.

Revenue Leakage Continues: With all of the advances in RA over the past decade, industry norms still indicate that 3% of total revenues are still at high risk for most carriers.

CABS Services not evolving: The cost-to-value of third party CABS processing has not evolved with industry margins. Carriers are not provided with pro-active tariff reviews and costs have remained consistent over the past decade.

Usage Visibility remains elusive and confusing: Views into network events fluctuate from department to department. The ability to query data may have to wait until billing production is complete.

Limited Third Party Feeds: Although you may not bill from it, storing other carrier traffic and third party feeds enable a carrier to validate submitted charges.

SS7 additional steps required: SS7 probes/analyzers can be costly. They do not use an industry standard billing format and many not contain third party information. A carrier will still need a database mechanism to compare SS7 to billing data that is generated and received by the carrier.

Post edited Usage Validation Tools: Usage validation tools usually work with post edited traffic only provide views of what usage has reached the billing stage.

Taxi description:

We believe that a call event warehouse provides the best path to visibility and validation of all traffic events. The warehouse should be easily accessed and reported on by all impacted carrier departments.

TAXI is a modular solution that provides a carrier with a view into all traffic events. All event feeds (switch, SS7, Third party, Ciber) are fed into the Carrier’s call event warehouse.

Bureau customers have access to their own, secure version of TAXI that is hosted and operated by Kansys. Customers have the ability to monitor the services that are under contract in real-time mode. Customers are also provided access to our universal BSS Reporting Tool (D.A.V.E.) to query current and historical usage data.  The service is located in a data center offering 24-hour operations and support from one the industry’s most respected BSS/OSS consultants. Kansys offers both a basic and premium option for the service;

The Basic Service utilizes an approach where the client provides all usage files to our location. We process and store the client usage in our warehouse solution. The clients usage is enhanced to include information from such sources as QTel9000 and the LERG. The Bureau works with each network event to determine which operators and service providers have been involved in a transaction. The ensuing amount of information and the number of ways to look at the data is extensive. Our team provides the guidance, infrastructure and support to leverage the value of the data.

The Premium Service will satisfy all usage processing requirements. Utilizing our copyrighted Mercury Mediation system, we automatically poll your switches to obtain your switch traffic. We also work with your service provider partners to obtain traffic on your behalf. We process AND evaluate your traffic to ensure you are recognizing all of your usage revenue. The Bureau works with your Central Office Technicians to uncover new or unusual traffic as we store your traffic in a secured warehouse.  Traffic is formatted and delivered to your billing system and any other downstream system.

Kansys works with the client to define an SLA that covers all aspects of infrastructure, availability and operational response that is all managed through a dedicated account manager.

The right combination of Tools, Processes and Intellectual Capital

TAXI is the result of our collective work as a BSS system integrator. As we worked with a myriad of mediation, billing systems, switches and data feeds, we’ve found that customers still struggle with how to make sense of this complicated area. The answer is that it takes a combination of tools, processes and intellectual capital to bring it all together.
