T.O.M. - For Order Management
Telcom Order Management - The communications industry is littered with carriers that have undertaken painful “best of breed” architectures (i.e. different BSS/OSS/CRM applications supported via middleware). As the industry has matured, margin pressures make it more difficult for carriers to justify costs associated with maintaining these architectures.
TOM was developed in response to frustrations within the industry. Carriers expressed the some of the following challenges:
- Lack of industry functionality in Generic order entry systems.
- Generic order entry systems lacked effective integration to industry billing/provisioning platforms.
- The upgrade costs for the generic order entry systems were becoming prohibitive.
- The middleware required to support “best of breed” architecture was expensive to maintain and test.
TOM, is a configurable, communications industry order management system that works with complex, simple, bulk, commercial and residential orders. Based on a SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), TOM allows different applications to exchange data and participate in business processes.
